Juan Sastre lived his life with passion, a passion that marked every step of his path. Restless, visionary and
a dreamer, he was able to capture the essence of the smallest of the Balearic islands and project it onto the vast
international seas. The very sea that forged his character taught him to recognise no limits, turning him into an
undisputed reference for the national nautical world. The passion of our founder is the essence that drives
those who challenge time, suspend it and, ultimately, transcend it, thus creating a timeless body of work.

THE FOUNDING MYTH

More than 60 years ago, Juan Sastre established his first nautical company in Menorca under the name Motonáutica Basilio, in honour of his father. From that small workshop, his lifelong commitment to the sea and to the craft of boatbuilding began to take shape.

This retirement would have marked the end for any other businessman. However, Mr. Sastre, a man of the sea unfamiliar with defeat, saw it as a beginning. He decided to continue building llaüts on a larger scale than usual, opening the door to a new chapter.

Thus, our founder began his voyage towards the most prestigious boat shows with his singular menorquín vessels. What began as the preservation of a craft became, over time, an internationally recognised brand.

Juan Sastre was a man who knew dreams. Dreams that at Sasga Yachts we strive to make real with yachts that adapt to the most demanding needs of their owners, while preserving the soul of the traditional menorquín.
